Profile: Al Robertson

Skills: brand definition, tone of voice, content strategy, copywriting, content writing, creative writing, brand naming, editing, training, mentoring

I help businesses, charities and all sorts of other people work out who they are and how best to tell the world about themselves. Sometimes I do the writing and editing, sometimes I do the thinking and sometimes I help them come up with the best words themselves.

Previous corporate clients include big brands like Ronseal and Vodafone, financial people like Legal & General and Lloyd's of London, and charities like the Prince's Foundation and Transform. I've also helped creative agencies like Tilt and Imagination, and creative people like sculptor Katusha Bull and (at one remove) 18th century polymath Sir Horace Walpole, rethink how they describe themselves. I either work with clients directly or through agencies like Afia, the Quiet Room and FIRST Agency.

When I'm not finding the best words for other people I write science fiction novels. I've published two - 'Crashing Heaven' and 'Waking Hell' - through Gollancz. At the moment, I'm the Writer in Residence at Brighton tech hub the FuseBox.

So that's me! If you fancy a chat, do get in touch.
